Nuisance Control

The Nuisance Action Team offers help to the residents of Guildford Borough who are suffering from some form of nuisance from their neighbours. It is a service for everyone - council tenants, those in privately rented accommodation and owner occupiers.

Nuisance can be caused by noisy stereos, dogs barking, shouting and raised voices but also includes problems such as noise from drug related activities (dealing from residential properties).

Evidence of a nuisance has to be obtained. This is initially collected by the complainant who completes a diary to demonstrate exactly what the problem is, how often it is happening and what effect it is having on the neighbours.

Once the diaries are received the nuisance will be assessed by the team and can be further investigated. This can be done by officers witnessing the problem, by the use of noise monitoring equipment, by interviewing the complainant and possibly serving a noise abatement notice on them.
